Advancing Project Development in India through Public Private Partnerships
Sector: Coal Mines, Landfills, and Oil & Gas Systems
Date: 22-23 February 2007
Location: New Delhi, India
Hosted By: FICCI, the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), and the Government of India Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Ministry of Power.
Event Description: This two-day conference on the Methane to Markets Partnership (M2M) and methane recovery and use project opportunities in India provided an introduction to the Partnership and specific technical and project level discussions in three industry sectors: coal mining, landfills and oil and natural gas. The oil and natural gas track included discussions on technologies and practices that can cost-effectively reduce methane emissions and improve energy efficiency in the Indian petroleum and natural gas sector. Natural Gas STAR representatives also took this opportunity to meet directly with Indian oil and gas companies such as ONGC, GAIL, Gujarat State Petroleum Corp, Adani Energy and Gujarat Gas to discuss opportunities to collaboratively reduce methane emissions.
