Partner Countries

The Methane to Markets Partnership includes countries with large sources of methane and/or special expertise and interest in developing methane projects. Founding partner countries account for approximately 60 percent of global methane emissions from the targeted sources.

Canada, a Methane to Markets Partner since 2005, is a member of the Agriculture and Landfill Subcommittees. Canada also serves as vice chair of the Oil and Gas Subcommittee and is a member of the Steering Committee. Canada has taken a leadership role in the Methane to Markets oil and gas sector. Canada's national environmental agency helped develop ON TIME, an online tool that identifies cost-effective methane reduction technologies and practices in oil and gas systems. Finally, Canada has active methane projects, including anaerobic digesters and landfill gas projects, in all four sectors.
Eni: Reducing Emissions, Sharing Experiences
Eni, an Italy-based integrated energy company, has been an active member of the Methane to Markets Project Network participating in the Oil and Gas Systems Subcommittee since 2005.
China's Sihe Mine: Proving the Power of Coal Mine Methane Projects
The world's largest power generation project fueled with coal mine methane is located in China's Shanxi Province, at the Sihe Mine in Jincheng City. The Methane to Markets Partnership helped bring this project to life.
