Colombia is the world's 22nd largest emitter of methane. Approximately 22 percent of its anthropogenic methane emissions—13.9 MTCO2E—comes from landfills, natural gas and oil systems, and coal mines.

Experience and Opportunities for Methane Projects
Colombia has landfill gas energy potential in two or possibly three of its major cities. Organizations such as the World Bank and private developers are already conducting feasibility assessments on the prime sites.
